The Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme is a prestigious leadership initiative designed to strengthen Africa’s public health systems by equipping experienced professionals with advanced leadership, strategic, and management competencies.

Launched by the African Union Commission through the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in partnership with the Kofi Annan Foundation, the programme supports senior public health professionals who will help drive a new public health order for Africa.

Selected fellows will also play a vital role in mentoring and developing the next generation of public health leaders across the continent.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African Union Member State
  • Hold a postgraduate degree in a public health–related field
  • Have 10+ years of professional experience after completing a Master’s degree
  • Be in full-time employment within a public or private health institution
  • Demonstrate proven or strong potential leadership capacity

Required Application Documents

Applicants must prepare:

  • Employer support letter confirming full participation
  • Two (2) recommendation letters
  • Personal statement (maximum 400 words) outlining commitment to public health and leadership vision
  • Leadership challenge project proposal (maximum 400 words)
