Role Overview

1840 & Company is hiring a Remote UI / AI Specialist to help shape a new hybrid discipline at the intersection of user interface design and artificial intelligence. This role is ideal for a creative, technically skilled designer who leverages AI tools to accelerate workflows, enhance user experiences, and support scalable product design.

Key Responsibilities

UI & UX Design

• Design clean, intuitive, and responsive interfaces using modern web standards (HTML5, CSS3, WCAG accessibility guidelines).
• Translate product requirements and user stories into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Continuously refine designs based on user testing, analytics, and feedback.

AI-Driven Design & Automation

• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Figma AI, and GitHub Copilot to speed up layout creation, component design, content drafting, and workflows.
• Create reusable AI prompts, templates, and automations to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate AI-powered features into user-facing products where applicable.

Front-End Collaboration

• Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
• Maintain and evolve design systems using AI-enhanced processes.
• Ensure visual and functional consistency across web, mobile, and multi-platform products.

Innovation & Research

• Stay up to date with UI trends, AI advancements, and modern front-end frameworks.
• Explore emerging AI-powered workflows that reduce repetitive tasks and increase creative output.
• Recommend scalable, future-proof solutions for design and automation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in UI/UX, product design, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, user flows, and accessibility best practices.
• Proven experience using AI tools for design, prototyping, content creation, or automation.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks).
• Coding capability for Shopify (Liquid) and mobile-first interfaces.
• Experience with online marketplaces (Amazon or similar platforms).
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to think strategically.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience creating or managing a design system.
• Knowledge of LLM prompting and AI workflows.
• Motion design or micro-interaction experience.
• A creative mindset and comfort working alongside AI-driven tools.
