Job Overview

The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet maintenance operations, ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational readiness of GIG Logistics’ vehicles. This pivotal role demands a strategic approach to preventative maintenance, repairs, and the management of a skilled technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Oversee and manage all vehicle repair and servicing activities, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to timelines.
• Supervise, train, and mentor the fleet maintenance team, fostering a culture of excellence and safety.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables, optimizing stock levels and controlling costs.
• Ensure all fleet maintenance activities comply with relevant Nigerian road safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Track maintenance costs and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with the Operations department to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize fleet availability.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external service providers and suppliers.
• Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to fleet management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance management, preferably within the logistics or transportation industry.
• Proven experience in managing a diverse fleet of vehicles, including trucks and vans.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent understanding of relevant safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and diagnostic tools.
