Job Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for all cost management duties throughout the project lifecycle. This includes estimating, cost planning, tendering, contract administration, and final account settlement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction processes and be adept at identifying potential cost savings and mitigating financial risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit bills of quantities, specifications, and drawings.
- Manage and control project costs, ensuring they remain within budget.
- Advise on procurement strategies and contract options.
- Administer construction contracts and manage variations.
- Monitor and report on project financial performance.
- Prepare valuations and interim payments to contractors.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
- Identify and quantify project risks and advise on mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Proven experience in cost management for construction projects.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, MS Project).
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement methods.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies is an advantage.
