Job Overview

The Linesman (Fibre Optic) will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic cable networks. This role requires a strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in various field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and test fibre optic cables according to technical specifications and industry best practices.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on fibre optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond promptly to network outages and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Climb poles and work at heights to install and maintain aerial fibre optic cables.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in fibre optic installation and repair.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Document all work performed, including installation details and test results.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Linesman, specifically with fibre optic cable installation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in fibre optic splicing, termination, and testing techniques.
  • Solid understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure and related safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in challenging environmental conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
