Job Overview

Secom Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring Secom Limited and its diverse clientele remain compliant with all applicable tax laws and regulations within Nigeria. The Tax Associate will be instrumental in preparing, analyzing, and filing various tax returns, providing expert advice, and proactively identifying opportunities for tax optimization. Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and file corporate and individual tax returns accurately and within deadlines, ensuring compliance with Nigerian tax laws (e.g., FIRS, State Revenue Boards).
* Conduct thorough tax research on complex tax issues, interpret tax legislation, and provide clear, actionable advice to internal stakeholders and clients.
* Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize client value.
* Review financial statements and transactions to identify potential tax exposures and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
* Respond to tax queries from clients and tax authorities, acting as a liaison and advocate where necessary.
* Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, and pronouncements, and assess their impact on Secom Limited and its clients.
* Support tax audits and investigations by gathering relevant documentation and assisting in the preparation of responses.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a reputable institution.
* A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in tax preparation, tax advisory, or a similar role within Nigeria.
* Solid understanding of Nigerian tax laws and regulations, including income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other relevant levies.
* Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
* High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
