Job Description
The WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026 is a fully funded opportunity designed for young graduates and early career professionals who are passionate about civil society and non profit development. This programme provides practical experience, professional growth, and exposure to regional development work across West Africa.
Running from July to December 2026, the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026 offers participants the chance to work with leading experts while gaining hands on experience in policy, advocacy, and organisational development.
About WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026
The West Africa Civil Society Institute is inviting applications from qualified candidates in Nigeria, Guinea, Niger, and Togo. This six month internship programme focuses on building the next generation of leaders in civil society and non profit management.
Interns will actively contribute to programme implementation, research, and policy development while strengthening their professional and technical skills.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026, applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of a first degree in international affairs, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or a related field
- Be a citizen of Nigeria, Guinea, Niger, or Togo
- Demonstrate strong interest in civil society and non profit organisation management

Internship Location and Structure
The WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026 will be hosted in different locations based on the applicant’s country:
- Interns from Guinea, Niger, and Togo will be based in Accra, Ghana with accommodation provided
- Nigerian interns will be based in Abuja, Nigeria
Important note for Nigerian applicants:
- Applicants must already reside in Abuja
- Accommodation will not be provided for Nigerian interns
Key Responsibilities
Interns selected for the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026 will:
- Support programme planning, project design, and proposal development
- Assist in organising training sessions and technical support activities
- Conduct research and prepare reports on policy and legislative issues
- Draft work plans, concept notes, and presentations
- Provide administrative support including budget tracking and scheduling
- Develop training materials such as toolkits and modules
- Liaise with partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries
- Support policy meetings and advocacy initiatives
Required Skills
Applicants should possess the following:
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to conduct effective online research
- Bilingual ability such as English and French or English and Portuguese

Important Information
