The Swedish Institute (SI) Paid Traineeships 2026 offers international master’s students and alumni the chance to gain hands-on professional experience at Swedish companies abroad. This fully funded program allows participants to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings, expand their global network, and strengthen their career prospects.

These traineeships are part of the Sweden Alumni Academy initiative and are available in selected ODA/ODC countries, providing a unique opportunity to collaborate with Swedish organizations in your home country.

Programme Overview

The SI Paid Traineeships are designed to:

• Provide full-time, 6-month traineeships at Swedish companies abroad.
• Connect trainees with projects aligned to their academic background and career goals.
• Offer a designated supervisor for mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluation.
• Equip trainees with professional skills, networking opportunities, and international work experience.

Traineeship Duration: August 2026 – January 31, 2027

Start Date: August 2026
End Date: January 31, 2027

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Be an international student completing a master’s degree in Sweden by summer 2026, or a former international student who graduated in 2023 or later.
• Hold citizenship in an eligible programme country:
  • Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Vietnam
• Academic and professional background must align with the traineeship requirements.
• Ability to undertake a full-time 6-month traineeship between August 2026 and January 31, 2027.
• Demonstrate how the traineeship connects to academic background and future career ambitions.

• Monthly scholarship payments (amount varies by country, disbursed to bank accounts)
• One-time travel grant of 15,000 SEK for trainees residing in Sweden
