A leading financial institution in Abuja is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth, strengthen customer relationships, and expand market presence. This full time onsite opportunity is suited for a results driven professional with a strong background in deposit mobilization, loan portfolio development, and strategic partnerships.

The ideal candidate will play a central role in improving profitability while maintaining regulatory compliance and excellent client service.

Job Summary for Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for attracting new customers, increasing deposits, improving the quality of the loan book, and identifying opportunities that support the bank’s long term sustainability. Success in this role requires a balance of marketing expertise, financial knowledge, leadership ability, and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

Deposit Mobilization and Revenue Growth

  • Develop practical strategies to mobilize savings and fixed deposits
  • achieve monthly and annual financial targets
  • identify and engage high net worth individuals, SMEs, cooperatives, and corporate clients
  • create initiatives that increase revenue and customer acquisition

Loan Portfolio Development

  • Grow and maintain a healthy and high quality loan portfolio
  • collaborate with the credit team to ensure proper loan structuring
  • monitor repayments and performance to reduce default rates

Business Strategy and Planning

  • design business growth plans aligned with organizational objectives
  • conduct market intelligence and competitor reviews
  • identify new markets, products, and expansion opportunities

Relationship Management

  • build strong, long term relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • represent the bank at meetings, industry events, and community engagements
  • manage negotiations with high value customers

Team Leadership

  • supervise and mentor marketing and deposit mobilization staff
  • set clear targets and track performance
  • carry out regular evaluations and provide coaching where necessary

Compliance and Risk Management

  • ensure all activities follow CBN regulations and internal policies
  • work closely with risk and compliance units to safeguard operations

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates interested in the Business Development Manager role should have:

  • BA, BSc, or HND in a relevant discipline
  • between seven and twelve years of experience in banking, sales, or business development
  • proven success in deposit mobilization and credit growth
  • strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • excellent communication and relationship building ability
  • good understanding of financial regulations and risk control

Abuja. This is an onsite position.
