The Store Inventory Officer will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, issuance, and reporting of technical materials and spare parts to ensure smooth power plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and issue technical store items including turbine spares, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical spares, tools, and consumables in line with approved procedures
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory catalogue, including part numbers, descriptions, specifications, and storage locations
  • Assist in forecasting inventory needs and maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Generate purchase requisitions for materials that reach reorder levels
  • Conduct routine stock counts and physical inventory checks, reporting discrepancies or slow-moving items
  • Obtain necessary acknowledgements on delivery notes from suppliers and transport personnel
  • Prepare storage locations and ensure proper labelling, preservation, and housekeeping of technical materials
  • Ensure safe custody and handling of spare parts, tools, and consumables
  • Prepare inventory reports and provide routine updates to management
  • Maintain proper filing and security of inventory documents
  • Liaise with maintenance, procurement, and other internal teams to support efficient store operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures in the warehouse, report near misses, and participate in risk assessments

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.Sc or HND in Engineering, Numerical Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical stores, warehouse, or inventory management, preferably in power plants, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • Basic knowledge of power plant equipment and spare parts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation)
  • Certification in Store Management, Inventory Control, or Materials Management is an advantage
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems such as ERP or IBM Maximo is desirable

Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of technical materials and spare parts used in power generation
  • Strong documentation, record-keeping, and organisational skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and inventory systems
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
  • Willingness to learn and work under supervision
