INGO Forum Deputy Director at Maiduguri, Borno

Type: Full-time
Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Contract: 12-month fixed-term (renewable)
Travel: ~60% (field and capital)
Salary/Benefits: Grade 10 on NRC’s salary scale

Role Summary:

The Deputy Director will lead INGO collaboration, facilitate information sharing, and support strategic advocacy and policy engagement. This position includes high-level representation of INGO interests nationally, oversight of the northeast office, and support to the Forum Director on budget, grant management, and staff well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate INGO coordination and joint advocacy
  • Manage Admin & Liaison Technical Officer to support NIF objectives
  • Support operational management of the northeast office (personnel, budget, security)
  • Advise on humanitarian access and policy implementation
  • Deputise for the Forum Director as required

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Advanced degree or undergraduate degree with extensive field experience
  • 5–7 years in humanitarian or development aid, preferably in complex emergencies or insecure areas
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, community engagement, and access strategies
  • Proven relationship-building and stakeholder facilitation skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English; French is a plus
  • Prior experience with INGO consortia/forums desirable

Policy, Advocacy & Communications Manager at Abuja

Role Summary:

The Policy, Advocacy & Communications Manager will lead NIF’s policy, advocacy, and communications portfolio, coordinating collective positions, driving advocacy campaigns nationally and internationally, and ensuring consistent messaging across humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding agendas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policy, advocacy, and communication strategies
  • Coordinate INGO-led advocacy positions and align with humanitarian-development-peace objectives
  • Produce policy outputs: briefs, statements, position papers, talking points
  • Conduct policy analysis and provide guidance to NIF platforms
  • Identify and leverage advocacy opportunities at national, regional, and international levels
  • Ensure evidence-based advocacy through field engagement and consultations

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (minimum) in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Journalism, Communications, Social Sciences, or related fields
  • 5+ years’ experience in advocacy, policy, or communications in humanitarian or development contexts
  • Strong experience in policy analysis, messaging, and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Hausa or other local languages advantageous
  • Familiarity with Nigerian media, digital communications, and multimedia content production
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles, nexus approaches, and working with local CSOs
