The University of Twente Kipaji Scholarship supports outstanding students from developing countries who have strong academic potential but limited financial resources.

The scholarship offers up to €12,000 in additional funding — provided on top of the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) — to help students cover living and study-related expenses while pursuing a master’s degree in the Netherlands.

About the Kipaji Scholarship Fund

The Kipaji Scholarship was created through contributions from University of Twente alumni, donors, and staff members.

The University of Twente (UT) offers internationally recognized master’s programs designed to build advanced knowledge, research capacity, and entrepreneurial skills—preparing graduates for careers in industry, academia, innovation, and leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Kipaji Scholarship, applicants must:

• Meet all eligibility conditions for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS).
• Hold citizenship of a DAC-listed developing country.
• First receive a partial UTS award (Kipaji then complements it).
• Demonstrate strong academic performance, including:
  • Average grade 8.0 in a pre-master’s program (if applicable).
• Submit a motivation letter showing how their studies will:
  • Contribute to scientific development, or
  • Encourage entrepreneurial growth in their home country.

How to Apply for the Kipaji Scholarship 2026

Follow these steps:

1️⃣ Apply for admission to an eligible master’s program at the University of Twente.
2️⃣ Apply for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) and secure a partial award.
3️⃣ In your UTS motivation letter, indicate your interest in being considered for the Kipaji Scholarship.
4️⃣ Your faculty will review and nominate eligible candidates.
5️⃣ If requested, submit a separate motivation letter explaining how your studies will support development in your home country.
