Job Overview: Security Associate G6

This role focuses on implementing and assessing security measures while supporting the protection of WFP staff, facilities, and operations. The successful candidate will contribute to security risk analysis, reporting, and coordination with relevant stakeholders to enable informed decision making.

Key Responsibilities

The Security Associate G6 will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Reviewing security threats and risks and preparing accurate reports on trends that may affect WFP operations
  • Analyzing security incidents and events using corporate or local information management tools to produce detailed reports for stakeholders
  • Coordinating with local authorities, law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and UN or NGO security teams to support safe programme access
  • Planning and coordinating staff movements during field missions and conducting security assessments within assigned locations
  • Reviewing post mission security assessment reports and providing recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Assisting the Country Director on security risk management and staff safety matters in line with the United Nations Security Management System
  • Supporting the implementation of Minimum Operational Security Standards and other mitigation measures
  • Managing and maintaining security equipment and recommending improvements to enhance operational safety
  • Monitoring access control procedures to ensure compliance by staff and visitors
  • Contributing to emergency preparedness and contingency planning, including physical security procedures
  • Delivering security training and identifying training needs to strengthen staff awareness and readiness

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Requirements

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a related discipline:

  • Political Science
  • Security Management
  • International Relations
  • Security Studies or Criminology
  • Law Enforcement or Policing
  • Public Administration
  • Cybersecurity

Experience

  • A minimum of six years of progressive work experience in a related field
  • Proven background in administrative or security related roles

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of the local language used at the duty station is an added advantage
