As a collaborative analytics platform, Dune helps developers, analysts, and investors explore and understand the onchain world and the future of finance. This Data Engineer job is an opportunity to join a fast growing remote first team building open, powerful tools used across ecosystems such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and many others.
Dune operates with a globally distributed team working across Europe and the eastern United States time zones. Backed by world class investors, including Coatue and Union Square Ventures, Dune continues to invest heavily in empowering a new generation of onchain analysts and data driven researchers.
About the Data Engineer Role
The data team at Dune transforms raw blockchain activity into reliable, reusable datasets that power dashboards, research, and products across the platform. As a Data Engineer, you will design and operate scalable data pipelines, model complex protocol mechanics, and help deliver trusted datasets to customers and internal teams. This role blends strong data engineering fundamentals with curiosity and an interest in blockchain data.

- Own transformation pipelines from raw ingestion to curated datasets with strong testing and documentation
Reliability and Data Quality
- Define and implement architectures that ensure data accuracy, timely delivery, and clear ownership
- Establish validation processes, service level expectations, observability, and lineage aware deployments
Operations and Troubleshooting
- Monitor, debug, and resolve pipeline issues independently
- Perform root cause analysis and drive long term improvements to system reliability
Platform and Scaling
- Build and orchestrate high volume pipelines using modern schedulers and control planes
- Scale curated datasets efficiently across Kafka, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks with proper partitioning and change tracking
Collaboration and Impact
- Work closely with product, go to market teams, and community contributors
- Translate user needs into high impact data solutions that shorten time to insight
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong SQL skills with experience modeling large datasets in modern data warehouses
- Hands on experience with at least one of Trino, Snowflake, or ClickHouse
- Proficiency in Python for pipeline development, automation, and tooling
- Experience operating production grade pipelines using orchestration tools such as Prefect or Airflow
- Solid computer science fundamentals and system design experience
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration environments
- Ability to work independently and solve complex data issues in a remote asynchronous setting
Nice to Have
- Strong intuition for blockchain data including transactions, events, and traces
- Interest in query engine internals and performance optimization
- Experience with data lakes and large scale data processing
- Familiarity with data observability, cost optimization, and CI practices
- Comfort using AI powered tools to improve development and operational workflows
Perks and Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity package ranked in the top tier of the industry
- Employee friendly equity plan with a heavily discounted strike price and extended exercise window
- Five weeks of paid time off plus flexible public holidays
