Operations Manager: Bookredex Nigeria Limited is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Operations Manager to oversee all printing press operations at our Palmgrove, Lagos facility. This onsite leadership role offers a competitive salary package of ₦200,000 to ₦300,000 per month for the right candidate with strong technical expertise in printing processes and proven leadership abilities.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Press Manager that will oversee all printing press operations, ensuring high-quality output, machine efficiency, and adherence to production schedules. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in printing processes, proven leadership ability, and hands-on experience in paper packaging production.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Manage daily operations of flexographic and offset printing presses to meet production targets
  • Plan and execute production schedules in alignment with customer demand and delivery timelines
  • Ensure optimal machine utilization while minimizing downtime and production delays
  • Monitor productivity, efficiency, and material wastage across all printing operations

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all printed materials meet brand standards and food-grade packaging requirements
  • Monitor color consistency, print registration, and finishing quality throughout production
  • Implement and enforce quality control systems and corrective measures
  • Conduct regular quality checks to maintain high standards

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and mentor press operators and support staff
  • Allocate manpower effectively across shifts to optimize productivity
  • Maintain discipline, accountability, and a high-performance culture within the team
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages skill development

Resource Optimization

  • Monitor ink, paper, plates, and consumable usage to control costs
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives to improve overall equipment efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings

Maintenance and Safety

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for all printing equipment
  • Manage breakdown response to minimize production interruptions
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe press environment at all times

Order Fulfillment

  • Manage order processes from start to finish ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Ensure timely delivery of quality products to clients
  • Verify that all materials needed for production are available before scheduling
  • Coordinate with other departments to streamline workflow

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Printing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in printing operations, preferably within paper or FMCG packaging
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity leading production teams
  • Strong knowledge of flexographic and offset printing processes
  • Experience with Quick Service Restaurant or food-grade packaging production is an added advantage

Technical Skills

  • In-depth understanding of printing press operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of color management and print quality standards
  • Familiarity with quality control systems and procedures
  • Understanding of safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices

Location

This position is based in Palmgrove, Lagos, and requires full-time onsite presence. Candidates must be residing in Lagos or willing to relocate to the area.

Salary Range

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary between ₦200,000 and ₦300,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
