The Asido Foundation (AF) hosts the annual Jemila Abubakar Memorial Essay Competition (JAME) in memory of Jemila Abubakar, to promote mental health awareness among undergraduates in Nigerian tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, Schools of Nursing, etc.).

To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be an undergraduate in any Nigerian tertiary institution
• Be able to provide proof of studentship

Guidelines for the Jemila Abubakar Memorial Essay Competition 2025
• Word Count – Minimum 750 words, maximum 1000 words
• Format – Essay must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc / .docx) format
• Applicants are required to upload the following:
o A scanned recent photograph
o Proof of studentship (e.g. ID card, admission letter, or any valid document)
o Certificate of the Unashamed Pledge

• Submitting an AI-generated essay will lead to automatic disqualification
• Plagiarism in ANY FORM will also lead to automatic disqualification
