About the Maintenance Technician Job in Abuja

The Maintenance Technician will ensure that all sample preparation equipment operates efficiently and reliably around the clock. This includes preventive maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, contamination control, and supporting laboratory sample processing operations.

The ideal candidate must have practical experience working with jaw crushers, riffle or rotary splitters, and ring and puck mills.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Care

• Execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules for jaw crushers, pulverizers, core saws, and rotary splitters
• Replace worn components such as jaw plates, drive belts, and bearings
• Calibrate sample dividers to ensure accurate and unbiased splitting
• Maintain dust extraction systems and ensure all safety guards and emergency stops are functional

Mechanical Troubleshooting and Repairs

• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective repairs promptly
• Maintain crushers and pulverizers to support continuous 24 hour operations
• Keep accurate maintenance records and document repairs performed

Contamination Control and Consumables Management

• Enforce strict cleaning protocols between samples using compressed air, vacuum systems, or wash sand
• Prevent cross contamination during sample preparation
• Monitor the wear life of grinding media including chrome steel and tungsten carbide
• Manage inventory of lubricants, diamond saw blades, and other critical consumables

Sample Preparation Support

• Input sample identification details into the Laboratory Samples Register or Laboratory Information Management System
• Understand sample data entry principles and technical documentation
• Work closely with the Sample Preparation Geochemist in crushing, splitting, and pulverizing ore, soil, and rock samples
• Ensure particle size requirements such as 95 percent passing 75 microns are achieved

Requirements for the Maintenance Technician Job in Abuja

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of OND qualification
• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong mechanical or electrical background
• Proven experience maintaining jaw crushers, rotary splitters, and ring and puck mills
• Practical knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
• Strong attention to safety and contamination control standards
• Ability to work in a fast paced technical environment
