Job Overview
The Control Room Operator serves as the central coordination point for plant operations. The role involves real time monitoring of production systems, maintaining operational stability, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Monitoring and Control
- Monitor production processes using DCS, SCADA, PLC, and related control systems
- Ensure operations remain within approved parameters to maintain product quality and output levels
- Adjust control settings to stabilize and optimize plant processes
- Detect and escalate system abnormalities, alarms, or equipment faults
- Coordinate corrective actions with field operators and maintenance teams
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment readings and production activities
- Prepare detailed shift reports and operational summaries
- Track deviations and support performance analysis
- Assist in interpreting process trends to improve efficiency
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Health, Safety, and Environmental policies
- Support safe start up and shutdown procedures
- Participate in emergency response drills and safety initiatives
- Ensure full compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly
Communication and Coordination
- Maintain effective communication between control room and field personnel
- Participate in structured shift handovers
- Work closely with maintenance and technical teams for troubleshooting and preventive checks
- Perform other assigned operational duties as required
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving plant efficiency and reducing downtime
- Participate in root cause analysis and process audits
- Support updates to operational procedures where necessary
Educational Requirements
- HND or BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing or oil and gas plant environment
- Experience in blending plants, terminals, or tank farm operations is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of process automation systems such as DCS, PLC, and SCADA
- Understanding of process flow diagrams, equipment operations, and product quality parameters
- Strong awareness of HSE standards and emergency procedures
