Job Description

The Senior Accountant ensures sound financial governance, accurate reporting, and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and standards. The role supports financial oversight, risk management, and provides independent financial insights for management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with approved financial policies, budgets, and operational plans
  • Identify and escalate financial or governance risks
  • Support audits, financial reviews, and stakeholder engagements
  • Review and validate monthly management accounts and annual financial statements
  • Monitor cash flows, funding requirements, and financial obligations
  • Analyse budget variances and investigate deviations
  • Ensure upstream oil and gas accounting practices comply with NRS
  • Oversee asset capitalization, depreciation, and impairment
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Petroleum Profits Tax, Hydrocarbon Tax, VAT, and withholding taxes
  • Maintain internal controls and recommend risk mitigation measures
  • Provide clear financial insights and advice to management and stakeholders

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory
  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Exposure to upstream oil and gas operations and joint ventures is an advantage
  • Strong integrity, analytical skills, and professional courage
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills

Job Description

The Senior Auditor executes internal audit activities within the Matrix Finance and Accounts Unit, ensuring effective internal controls, accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies. The role involves risk assessment, review of financial processes, and follow-up on audit findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reviews of payment vouchers for accuracy and compliance
  • Review bank and stock reconciliation statements
  • Perform general ledger reviews to ensure accurate management accounts
  • Review prepayments and depreciation schedules
  • Assess ERP processes, identify control gaps, and recommend improvements
  • Support credit reviews and risk management activities
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and statutory obligations
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Prepare audit reports highlighting risks, findings, and recommendations
  • Track and follow up on audit findings and escalate unresolved issues to Group Head, IACD

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory
  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of upstream oil and gas business is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit methodologies, and risk management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and reporting abilities
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and professional judgment
