Catalyst Path Consulting is seeking highly driven and enthusiastic Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) in Mining Engineering to join our growing technical team. This programme is structured to equip fresh graduates with practical exposure to mining operations, safety management, and project execution, while building a strong foundation for future leadership roles within the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior mining engineers in planning, designing, and supervising daily mining activities.
  • Learn and apply established standards for mine safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in geological surveys, mine mapping, and ore reserve estimation exercises.
  • Assist with drilling, blasting, excavation, and related field operations under supervision.
  • Collect, interpret, and report operational data to enhance productivity and process performance.
  • Contribute to sustainability-focused initiatives, including waste management and land rehabilitation.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for various internal and external audiences.
  • Participate in structured departmental rotations covering planning, operations, safety, and environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Solid understanding of fundamental mining engineering principles (e.g., mine planning, rock mechanics, mineral processing).
  • Basic familiarity with mining software such as Surpac, Datamine, AutoCAD, or Minex.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
  • Readiness to work in remote mine locations and adapt to field conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Fresh graduates or individuals with up to one year of experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Understanding of mining industry regulations and safety standards is an added advantage.

Career Progression

Successful trainees will advance into positions such as Mining Engineer, Mine Planning Engineer, or Operations Supervisor. Further specialization opportunities may be available in geotechnical engineering, mine safety, mineral economics, and related disciplines.
