Job Description
Airtel Nigeria, officially known as Airtel Networks Limited, is one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications companies, serving over 39.8 million subscribers nationwide. Headquartered in Lagos, Airtel delivers mobile voice, data, enterprise solutions, and digital financial services across Nigeria and 13 other African countries.
Through its philanthropic arm, Airtel Africa Foundation, the company is now accepting applications for the 2025 Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship Program, a fully funded initiative aimed at supporting young Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue undergraduate education in technology-related fields.
About the Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship
The Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship is designed to increase access to quality education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and to develop the next generation of African technology leaders.
In partnership with selected Nigerian universities, the Foundation provides long-term financial support to outstanding students who secure admission into approved tech-focused undergraduate programmes.
Participating Universities (Nigeria)
Applicants must be admitted into one of the following seven public universities:
- University of Lagos (UNILAG)
- University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
- Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU)
- University of Benin (UNIBEN)
- Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
- University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)
- Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED)
Fellowship Reach
- In Nigeria, the program will support at least 100 students annually.
Fellowship Coverage
- Full sponsorship for the entire duration of the undergraduate programme
- Covers 4–5 years for Bachelor of Technology, Science, and Engineering degrees
Eligible Courses
Applicants must be studying (or admitted to study) any of the following or related ICT disciplines:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Systems Engineering
- Computer Technology
- Data Science
- Software Engineering
- Cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence
- Library and Information Science
- Telecommunication Engineering
- Other approved tech or ICT-related courses
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2025 Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship, applicants must:
- Be admitted into one of the 7 participating universities
- Be a new undergraduate (100 level) student
- Score a minimum of 230 in JAMB (UTME)
- Possess at least five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in one sitting
- Demonstrate financial need
- Not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship, fellowship, or grant for the same purpose
- Be willing to provide all required academic and personal documentation
- Gender diversity will be considered during selection
Required Documents
Applicants must upload scanned copies of the following:
- Recent passport photograph (JPEG, not more than 200KB)
- University admission letter
- UTME (JAMB) result slip
- O’Level (WAEC/NECO) result
- School ID card
- A’Level / OND / NCE result (if applicable)
