About the Finance Officer Job

The Finance Officer Job involves managing core accounting and financial operations for the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, payroll management, cash flow monitoring, tax compliance, and internal controls while supporting management with data driven financial insights.

This role requires strong knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards, tax regulations, and practical experience working in dynamic business environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and expense tracking
  • Prepare and present financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports to management
  • Handle payroll processing, including salary computation, statutory deductions, pensions, and benefits administration
  • Monitor cash flow, maintain accurate financial records, and manage petty cash operations
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax regulations and statutory requirements
  • Prepare and file statutory returns and liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities
  • Conduct periodic internal audits and review financial control processes
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports covering sales, revenue growth, expenses, and profitability
  • Support management with financial analysis to improve resource utilization and operational efficiency
  • Develop and track financial KPIs to ensure fiscal discipline and business performance
  • Collaborate with Credit, Operations, and Sales teams to align financial reporting with business objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and professional ethics in all financial activities

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates applying for the Finance Officer Job must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage
  • Two to four years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in SMEs or startups

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools
