Job Overview

The Embassy is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Economic Assistant in the Economic Section. The role involves conducting economic research, drafting reports, and maintaining professional contacts with government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and private-sector stakeholders to support U.S. policy objectives in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct economic research and draft analytical reports and official cables
  • Track Nigerian government priorities and progress toward U.S. Government objectives
  • Coordinate with relevant U.S. Government agencies
  • Deliver official demarches and organize meetings for senior Embassy leadership
  • Brief Economic Section staff on portfolio-related issues
  • Serve as control officer for official visits
  • Represent the Embassy at official functions and participate in committees and working groups
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of university study
  • At least two years of relevant work experience related to the duties of the position
  • Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills
  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Demonstrated experience in effective interpersonal engagement and communication
