Job Overview
The Driver will be responsible for safely operating assigned vehicles, transporting staff and materials, and ensuring vehicles are well maintained and compliant with safety and security standards. The role reports directly to the Admin Officer and supports logistics and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation and Safety Duties
- Safely transport Malaria Consortium staff, visitors, and goods as assigned
- Ensure passengers wear seat belts and comply with safety requirements
- Observe Nigerian traffic laws, speed limits, and road safety practices
- Adhere to Malaria Consortium vehicle operating procedures
- Immediately report accidents to the line manager and relevant authorities
- Assist with loading, off-loading, and field logistics tasks
Vehicle Maintenance and Monitoring
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly vehicle checks
- Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, insured, and licensed at all times
- Maintain accurate vehicle movement and fuel consumption logs
- Alert line managers when maintenance or servicing is due
- Prepare vehicles ahead of scheduled field trips, including necessary equipment and supplies
Security and Communication Responsibilities
- Maintain active radio communication with the base station during field movements
- Follow security protocols and guidelines at all times
- Report security incidents or route-related concerns promptly
- Support logistics teams with route risk assessments
- Carry out additional assigned tasks such as document delivery or staff transport
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of O’Level (SSCE) qualification
- Valid Nigerian driver’s license
- Minimum of five years’ professional driving experience
- Ability to communicate fluently in English
- Honest, reliable, and professional demeanor
- Strong interpersonal skills
Desirable Requirements
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics
- Willingness to learn and adhere to organizational security protocols
