Attain Finance is hiring a Database Reliability Engineer to lead the reliability, security, and performance of our production databases. With over 50 years of experience in consumer finance across the U.S. and Canada, we are modernizing our data platform and expanding real-time systems to support the next phase of growth.

About the Role

In this role, you will ensure databases run efficiently, remain secure, and experience minimal downtime. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and data teams, automate workflows, and enhance observability across environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize databases across AWS RDS, Aurora (Postgres/MySQL), PostgreSQL, and SQL Server
• Ensure high availability, performance tuning, backup management, and disaster recovery
• Lead incident response, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability improvements
• Strengthen database security, access controls, and compliance practices
• Partner with Data Engineering on pipelines and real-time data ingestion
• Automate operations and improve documentation and monitoring processes

What You Bring

• Background in database engineering, SRE, or reliability-focused roles
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS databases, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server
• Deep knowledge of performance tuning, monitoring, HA/DR, and backup strategies
• Experience supporting mission-critical, production environments
• Nice to have: Snowflake, Kafka/Kinesis/CDC, Terraform, Datadog, or Grafana

Salary and Benefits

• $90,000–$110,000 USD base salary
