Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Implement branch commercial sales strategies aligned with local market conditions to achieve assigned targets
- Drive customer acquisition by opening and managing different account types for commercial clients
- Promote cross selling opportunities through strong product knowledge and market awareness
- Manage existing commercial relationships while sourcing new business opportunities
- Conduct sales presentations and client visits to understand needs and promote banking solutions
- Collaborate with marketing teams to support sales campaigns and business growth initiatives
- Convert service recovery situations into long term business opportunities
Risk Management and Compliance
- Assess lending risks in line with the bank’s risk appetite and credit policies
- Ensure full compliance with KYC requirements and internal control procedures
- Review loan terms, collateral documentation, and credit conditions to minimize exposure
- Resolve customer complaints in line with the bank’s service and risk management standards
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for assigned portfolios
Financial and Credit Management
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and credit reports for decision making
- Conduct prequalification and financial risk assessments for financing requests
- Support branch managers in preparing deposit mobilization and credit proposals
- Contribute to the growth of deposits, loans, and overdrafts to improve branch profitability
- Negotiate contract terms with prospective and existing clients
Customer Relationship Management
- Deliver consistent and high quality customer service across all client interactions
- Provide tailored financial advice and product recommendations to meet client needs
- Maintain regular communication with clients, offering portfolio updates and guidance
- Act as a trusted advisor by addressing concerns and supporting informed financial decisions
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Work closely with branch colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery
- Promote a positive and proactive workplace culture
- Demonstrate leadership qualities while upholding Wema Bank’s values and HR policies
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Minimum of a First Degree in any discipline
- Additional academic or professional qualifications are an advantage
Experience and Skills
- Three to ten years of relevant experience in sales and marketing within the banking sector
- Professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria is required
- Strong understanding of commercial banking products and credit processes
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Digital proficiency and ability to work in a technology driven environment
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving ability
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and lead teams effectively
- Strong commitment to excellent customer service
