The American University in Cairo (AUC) is now accepting applications for the AUC African Graduate Fellowship 2026, a highly competitive, fully funded scholarship opportunity for outstanding African students seeking to pursue a master’s degree in Egypt.
This fellowship is designed to support academically excellent and highly motivated Africans (excluding Egyptians) by removing financial barriers and providing access to world-class graduate education at one of Africa’s leading universities.

About the AUC African Graduate Fellowship
The AUC African Graduate Fellowship is awarded for a maximum of five semesters plus one summer session, subject to satisfactory academic performance reviewed every semester.
Fellows are enrolled as full-time graduate students, typically taking up to nine credits per semester (or as required by their program), across any of AUC’s eligible graduate programs.
For students in the Counseling Psychology master’s program, the fellowship duration may be extended to a maximum of seven semesters.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a non-Egyptian African national
- Applicants with dual non-African nationality are not eligible
- Open to all graduate disciplines offered at AUC
- Secure admission into a master’s program at AUC
- Meet AUC graduate admissions requirements
- Submit a valid TOEFL iBT or Academic IELTS score that meets AUC’s language requirements
- Continuing fellows must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 to retain funding
What the Fellowship Covers
The AUC African Graduate Fellowship is fully funded and includes:
- Full tuition coverage (up to nine credits per semester)
- Monthly living stipend
- Student services and activity fees
- Medical services and comprehensive health insurance
- Monthly housing allowance or accommodation at AUC’s New Cairo campus residences
- Possible coverage for remedial English language requirements (if applicable)
Duration of Award
- Standard programs: Up to 5 semesters + 1 summer session
