Job Overview for the Accountant Job in Lagos The successful candidate will oversee accounting activities, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and risk management. You will help leadership understand the financial health of the company while ensuring records are accurate and regulations are met.

Key Responsibilities Financial Planning and Analysis Prepare and implement budgets and financial plans

Conduct detailed analysis to uncover trends, opportunities, and risks

Produce timely financial statements and forecasts

Track performance indicators to evaluate business stability

Financial Operations Supervise general ledger activities

Manage accounts payable and receivable

Oversee cash flow and treasury functions

Establish and maintain effective internal controls

Ensure taxes are computed and filed correctly

Risk Management and Compliance Identify financial exposure across market, credit, and operations

Develop strategies to minimize risk

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards

Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline

MBA or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or ICAN is highly desirable

Minimum of four years experience in a senior finance or accounting role

Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS

Demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking ability

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Strong communication and interpersonal competence

Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft applications
