The Internet Society Early Career Fellowship 2026 is now open for applications. This prestigious program is designed to empower a new generation of Internet champions, bridging the gap between technology and policy while promoting an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet.

Fellows will gain mentorship, guidance, and hands-on support from Internet leaders and organizations. The program equips participants with leadership, advocacy, communications, and project management skills, enabling them to design and implement impactful initiatives that strengthen the Internet ecosystem.

About the Fellowship

The Early Career Fellowship selects a cohort of 15 fellows annually for a six-month immersive program. Participants engage in seminars, workshops, discussions, courses, and project work. Networking and mentorship opportunities are provided throughout the program. Fellows culminate the experience by presenting their final projects at a closing symposium, showcasing the impact of their work.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be early career professionals working in the Internet ecosystem in technical, policy, economic, or social capacities and must have initiated or be interested in projects to strengthen the Internet.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or vocational degree, or at least three years of professional experience in an Internet-related field
  • Less than ten years of professional experience in an Internet-related field
  • An innovative project proposal focused on growing or strengthening the Internet
  • Reliable access to broadband Internet and relevant devices
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Availability to fully participate in the six-month program

Commitment Requirements

  • Minimum of six hours per week for coursework, seminars, project work, and program activities
  • Completion of the full six-month program
  • Attendance at all required sessions while managing time zone differences

  • By 2 April 2026: Fellows selected
  • 5 April 2026: Cohort kick off
