The Awaji Youth Federation (AYF) Fellowship Program invites passionate, next-generation leaders from around the world who are eager to address regional development challenges while contributing to global innovation.

The fellowship is a 9-month, fully immersive live-and-work program based on Awaji Island, Japan, designed for young professionals seeking accelerated growth, hands-on experience, and international exposure.

Participants will collaborate on real-world projects that support regional revitalization in Japan, while gaining practical skills through structured training, mentoring, and fieldwork.

Program Structure

The AYF Fellowship is built around three interconnected components:

  1. Self-Development & Mentorship – Personal growth through coaching and leadership training
  2. Project Ideation & Execution – Hands-on project work addressing real community needs
  3. Event Planning & Creation – Designing and delivering impactful local and international events

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be from any country (open globally)
  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Have some prior professional or practical experience
  • Demonstrate commitment to solving social challenges
  • Share core values of discipline, hard work, and collaboration
  • No IELTS or language test required

Fellowship Benefits

Successful fellows will receive:

  • Monthly Salary: ¥220,000
    • Base Salary: ¥190,000
    • Work Allowance: ¥30,000
  • Full coverage of government fees and taxes
  • Free accommodation and meals
