WaterAid is seeking a dedicated Research and Data Monitoring Consultant to support our critical work in Nigeria, where over 42% of the population lacks access to clean water and only 11% have access to safe sanitation. This role is essential to understanding and addressing the complex water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges facing Nigeria’s 150+ million people. You will play a vital part in generating evidence that drives impactful interventions across our programs.

Job Overview

As Research and Data Monitoring Consultant, you will establish robust monitoring systems and conduct research to evaluate the effectiveness of WaterAid’s water and sanitation initiatives throughout Nigeria. Your work will inform strategic decision-making and demonstrate our impact to stakeholders and donors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive monitoring frameworks for WASH programs
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program data using quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Develop reports and dashboards tracking progress against key performance indicators
  • Conduct field assessments and research studies on sanitation and water access
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with organizational standards
  • Collaborate with program teams to identify information needs

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, public health, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in development research or monitoring and evaluation
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in Nigeria or similar contexts
