Job Overview

Hoop Telecoms is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Fiber Backhaul Engineer to join our operations in Nigeria. This critical role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our fiber optic backhaul network, ensuring robust, high-capacity connectivity across our service areas. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of fiber optic technologies, network architecture, and troubleshooting methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement scalable and resilient fiber optic backhaul network solutions.
• Oversee the deployment and commissioning of new fiber routes and transmission equipment.
• Ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of the backhaul network.
• Develop and execute maintenance schedules, including proactive monitoring and fault resolution.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new backhaul infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backhaul solutions with other network elements.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in fiber optic network design and engineering, with a focus on backhaul.
• In-depth knowledge of DWDM, OTN, MPLS, and other relevant transmission technologies.
• Proficiency in fiber optic testing and measurement tools.
• Strong understanding of network planning, capacity management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with network planning tools and software.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and work independently or as part of a team.
