New Incentives is seeking a dedicated Safety & Security Officer to join our team in Nigeria. We are a US-based nonprofit dedicated to implementing health-related cash transfer programs in developing countries, focusing on saving lives. In Nigeria, our program provides conditional cash transfers to pregnant women with at-risk pregnancies, incentivizing adherence to medical advice for healthier outcomes for mothers and children.

Job Overview

The Safety & Security Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the physical safety and security of New Incentives’ staff, beneficiaries, assets, and operations across all program locations in Nigeria. This position requires a proactive and vigilant individual with a strong understanding of security protocols and risk management within a development context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor the security environment and provide timely intelligence and updates.
  • Oversee the physical security of offices, staff residences, and program sites.
  • Manage security personnel and ensure their effective performance.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders on security matters.
  • Develop and deliver security training to staff and beneficiaries.
  • Respond to security incidents and manage emergency situations.

    • Requirements

  • Proven experience in a safety and security role, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of security risk management and incident response.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant security technologies and tools.
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages.
