Job Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Praia Health, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the core infrastructure that supports our consumer health products. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring seamless and secure data exchange with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, a cornerstone of modern healthcare delivery. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy robust backend services and APIs, with a strong emphasis on EMR integration.
  • Implement and manage FHIR connectivity to major EMR systems, including Epic.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of all integrated systems.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of APIs, from conception to production deployment.
  • Develop comprehensive API documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in backend development.

    • Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Backend Engineer or similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience with EMR integration and healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7).
  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
  • Experience designing and building secure, scalable RESTful APIs.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
