Job Overview

The Resident Coordinator is responsible for leading the UN Country Team, advocating for the UN’s mandate, and ensuring coherence and efficiency in the delivery of UN development assistance. They will engage with national governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance sustainable development goals and promote peace and human rights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the UN Country Team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Oversee the implementation of the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) or equivalent national programming instruments.
  • Represent the UN effectively in all fora, advocating for UN priorities and values.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with national governments, development partners, and civil society.
  • Ensure the effective coordination and delivery of UN development programmes and projects.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of UN activities at the country level.
  • Mobilize resources and promote innovative approaches to development challenges.
  • Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in international affairs, development, public administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in international development, diplomacy, or a senior management role within an international organization.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of global development agendas and UN system operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one other UN official language.
