Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of a World Bank member developing country
- Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
- Be in good health
- Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained at least 3 years before the application deadline
- Have at least 3 years of paid, full time experience in development related work within the last 6 years
- Be currently employed in a development related role at the time of application
- Gain unconditional admission to at least one participating master’s program outside your home country
- Not be affiliated with the World Bank Group as staff or close relatives of staff
Applicants who previously declined or did not complete this scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates of the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2026 will receive:
- Full tuition coverage for the graduate program
- Economy class round trip airfare plus a 600 USD travel allowance per trip
- Monthly living allowance to cover accommodation, food, and study materials
- Basic medical insurance provided through the host university
The scholarship covers the duration of the program or up to two years.
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2026 does not include:
- Visa application fees
- Costs for family members
- Extra courses outside the required academic program
- Language training not included in the program
- Additional travel during the study period
- Research, field trips, or internship related expenses
- Personal equipment such as laptops
- Residence permit fees
