Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 English Language Assistants Program, organized by the Embassy of France in Nigeria. This program, also known as ALVE France Education International, offers Nigerian graduates a unique opportunity to gain 7 months of international work experience teaching English in France.

Participants will work as English language assistants in schools, supporting French students in developing their English language skills while gaining valuable professional and cultural exposure.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Nationality: Must be a Nigerian citizen (permanent residents are not eligible).
  2. Age: Between 20 and 30 years old by the start of the mission.
  3. Education:
    • Completed secondary education in Nigeria
    • Completed at least four years of university studies at the time of application
  4. Experience: Teaching experience or volunteer work in educational projects is highly valued.
  5. Language Proficiency:
    • Minimum B1 level in French (DELF or DALF certificates required)
    • Native English speaker
  6. Personal Status: Preferably single, as the assistant salary is not sufficient to support dependents.
  7. Financial Requirement: Must provide proof of sufficient funds to cover the flight ticket and living expenses for the first month before obtaining a visa.
  8. Placement Selection: Candidates must select one of the ten Alliances Françaises or the Institut Français du Nigeria in the “Professeur Evaluateur” field. Applications not following this procedure will be automatically disqualified.

Application and Interview Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview, which can be physical or online.
  • Interview locations will be based on proximity to the applicant’s residence:
    • Abuja: Institut Français du Nigeria
    • Other Cities: Alliances Françaises in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Kaduna, Owerri, Ilorin, Kano, Jos, or Maiduguri
