The Federal Ministry of Works Capacity Building Programme 2026 is now open following an extension of the call for applications. This programme targets unemployed graduate engineers and skilled artisans across all Local Government Areas in Nigeria and forms part of the Federal Government’s effort to strengthen technical capacity in the construction and infrastructure sector.

Launched under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the initiative focuses on hands on training, mentorship, and real project exposure while supporting the delivery of critical Federal Ministry of Works projects nationwide. Selected participants will be temporarily engaged and deployed to construction sites within or close to their regions.

About the Federal Ministry of Works Capacity Building Programme

The Federal Ministry of Works Capacity Building Programme 2026 is a national intervention designed to empower young Nigerians with practical skills and industry exposure. Participants will contribute directly to ongoing federal infrastructure projects while receiving structured field training under experienced professionals.

Through this programme, graduate engineers and artisans will gain modern construction experience, improve employability, and support the transfer of technical knowledge within the Nigerian construction industry.

Programme Objectives

The programme is structured to achieve the following objectives:

• Equip young engineers and artisans with practical experience in modern construction techniques
• Build a sustainable pool of local technical talent for infrastructure development
• Reduce youth unemployment through structured short term engagement
• Improve project delivery by integrating trained local personnel

Eligible Application Categories

Applications are invited under the following categories.

Graduate Engineers

Applicants must hold qualifications in any of the following disciplines:

• Civil Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering

Accepted qualifications include BEng, BTech, or HND from a recognized institution.

Skilled Artisans

This category includes candidates with technical and vocational skills such as:

• Masonry
• Carpentry
• Steel reinforcement work
• Plumbing
• Welding and fabrication
• Electrical installation
• Heavy equipment operation
• Survey assistance

Application Criteria

Requirements for Graduate Engineers

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

• Nigerian citizen aged between 18 and 35 years
• Degree or HND in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
• Currently unemployed and not engaged in full time work or government service
• Evidence of NYSC completion, exemption, or exclusion
• Resident in or willing to work within any Local Government Area with Ministry projects
• Basic computer literacy with engineering software knowledge as an advantage
• Willingness to participate fully in structured field training

Requirements for Skilled Artisans

Applicants must satisfy the criteria below:

• Nigerian citizen aged between 18 and 45 years
• Possession of recognized vocational training, trade test certificates, or verifiable experience
• Currently unemployed
• Physically fit for construction related work
• Willingness to undergo further training, safety certification, and supervised project attachment

Programme Features and Benefits

Participants selected under the Federal Ministry of Works Capacity Building Programme will receive the following benefits:

• Field mentorship under registered engineers and certified supervisors
