PED Workshop Engineer Development Program
The Workshop Engineer supports the Workshop Supervisor in all technical and quality-related aspects of repair, maintenance, and servicing activities. This role is part of the Plant Equipment Department’s long-term plan to develop skilled engineers for future leadership within the workshop.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Workshop Supervisor in managing technical and quality aspects of workshop operations
- Review work orders and determine appropriate repair methods, tools, and materials
- Provide technical support in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and temporary solutions when standard methods are unavailable
- Conduct or support in-process and final inspections to ensure repair quality, functionality, and safety compliance
- Verify that test runs and functional checks are performed under safe conditions by authorized personnel
- Accurately document inspection results, measurements, and quality findings in designated records
- Report deviations, recurring failures, and non-conformities, supporting root cause analysis and corrective measures
- Assist in implementing Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and monitor technical performance indicators for improvement opportunities
- Provide on-the-job guidance and knowledge transfer to mechanics, electricians, and technicians
- Ensure compliance with workshop standards, safety procedures, and quality requirements during all maintenance operations
- Support the Supervisor in enforcing discipline, order, and proper use of tools and materials
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in maintenance, repairs, fleet management, or engineering support within PED
- Written recommendation from current Supervisor or Manager confirming good conduct, technical suitability, and readiness for development
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and workshop documentation
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and safety awareness
- Good communication skills and willingness to mentor others
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment
