The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat invites journalists from SADC Member States to participate in the 2026 SADC Media Awards, celebrating excellence in reporting on regional cooperation, integration, and development.
Application Deadline: 29 February 2026
Established in 1996, the SADC Media Awards recognize outstanding media work across four categories: Print, Radio, Television, and Photojournalism. Winners in each category receive:
- 1st Prize: USD 2,500
- Runner-up: USD 1,000
Entry Categories and Requirements
1. Print Journalism
- Features or articles published in newspapers, newsletters, magazines, or websites.
- Word count: 100–2,000 words.
2. Radio Journalism
- Broadcast material of 1–30 minutes.
- Submit on CD or USB, with an electronic transcript in Word format for translation purposes.
3. Television Journalism
- Televised material of 1–45 minutes.
- Submit on CD or USB, with an electronic transcript in Word format for translation purposes.
4. Photojournalism
- Published pictures with captions: either a single photo or a spread of up to 20 photos in one edition.
- Each entry must be accompanied by the original publication in which the photo(s) appeared.
Submission Guidelines
- All entries must be submitted via the National Media Coordinators, not directly to the SADC Secretariat.
- The National Adjudication Committee must receive entries no later than 29 February 2026.
