The Federal Ministry of Education, in partnership with Oxford-TVET, has opened applications for the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project, a flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerians with in-demand, practical skills.

This national skills development programme is designed to promote employment, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship by equipping participants with market-relevant technical expertise. As Nigeria continues its transition toward renewable and sustainable energy solutions, the IDEAS Project focuses on closing the skills gap in the rapidly growing solar and renewable energy sector.

About the IDEAS Project

The IDEAS Project is a hands-on vocational training programme developed to transform unemployed youths into competent technical professionals and successful entrepreneurs.

This training track specializes in Solar and Inverter Installation and Maintenance, a high-demand skillset within Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem.

Programme Focus and Curriculum

Participants will undergo comprehensive technical training covering:

• Basic electrical principles and safety standards
• Solar power systems and key components
• Inverter installation, configuration, and integration
• Solar system design and load calculation
• Safety practices, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting
• Maintenance and repair of solar and inverter systems

The curriculum is practical, intensive, and designed to build both technical confidence and professional competence.
