Job Description
The Young Digital Leaders of Canada (YDLC), the organizing body behind Youth IGF Canada, is inviting applications for 2–4 Executive Committee members to serve during the 2026–2028 term. This opportunity is open to young people who are passionate about Internet governance, digital democracy, technology policy, and youth civic engagement in Canada.
YDLC plays a key role in amplifying youth voices in national and global digital policy discussions, including the annual Canada Youth Internet Governance Forum (Youth IGF). Executive Committee members help shape strategy, deliver programs, build partnerships, and strengthen youth-led digital governance initiatives.
About the Role
Executive Committee members serve a two-year volunteer term, starting in February 2026. All selected candidates will begin as Executive Members, with opportunities to progress into coordinator roles after one year, based on interest and performance.
YDLC is also specifically recruiting a Treasurer for applicants with relevant experience in commerce, finance, or accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend biweekly Executive Committee meetings held every other Sunday from 1:00–3:00 p.m. ET
- Commit up to four hours per week to YDLC activities
- Support the planning and delivery of Youth IGF Canada and related digital governance initiatives
- Collaborate with youth leaders, partners, and stakeholders across digital policy spaces
- Participate in the annual Canada Youth IGF, with travel and accommodation covered where applicable, subject to funding and location
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be 18–30 years old
- Be able to commit to a two-year term
- Have a working proficiency in English (YDLC primarily operates in English)
- Have reliable broadband internet access for virtual meetings
- Demonstrate interest or experience in Internet governance, digital policy, civic technology, or related fields
Proficiency in French is considered an asset but is not required.
Application Requirements
Applicants will be asked to submit:
- A short statement outlining past or current involvement in digital governance or related initiatives
- A brief reflection on a digital governance or technology policy topic important to them
- A concise summary of relevant volunteer and professional experience
- An indication of interest in either the Executive Member role or the Treasurer position
